Distribution Research "Conde-Nast Traveler"
When I first started my project research I looked at the magazine "Conde Nast Traveler", Conde Nast Traveler is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine. After researching this magazine I found that I was intrigued by their style, and I wanted to try and mimic it, while also adding a little twist of my own. However, I still wanted to make sure my magazine would be unique. Throughout the production of my magazine I came to this magazine for inspiration. While I was observing the style they portrayed, I got to see what contents they included in their magazine, the pictures they selected, and many other aspects of their magazines layout. In Conde Nast's print edition they include articles that appear simple, and uncluttered. Their content does not fill up the pages completely, as the viewer can still see plenty of white space. My take on this, is that it provides an effortless, modern feel, captivating the readers attention because of its appearance and easy reading access.
Their online website does this as well, their are many gaps of just plain whiteness. Their color selections are the same on both their website and in the magazine; lots of white, black, and also colors pertaining to the locations being showcased. One aspect I found on their website that they couldn't have included in their magazine is transitioning photos. For example on their website they include four locations with this aspect; Paris, San Fransisco, Singapore, and Austin. Each of these different locations have different scenic photos that are alternating so the viewer has the chance to see different places within the city. Just like the print edition, the website appears very simple looking but very appealing to the eye. There is not a large amount of content like you may find on other travel magazine websites, however there is just the right amount, and the layout is very unique from any of the other websites I've been on before. Personally, I love this style and if I was to create a website for my magazine I would follow something along this path.
